The Chery Tiggo 7 arrived on the Brazilian market in February 2019, equipped with a 1.5 turbo flex engine of up to 150 hp. But the model gained strength in the market even in December 2021, when it underwent a deep restyling, adopted the surname Pro and received the 1.6 turbo gasoline engine with 187 hp.

In 2022, the Tiggo 7 entered the brand’s electrification route with the debut of the mild hybrid version (MHEV). In the same period, it started to offer the Max Drive package, as Caoa Chery calls the set of driving assistance items (ADAS).
The big commercial leap, however, came in 2024 with the launch of the Tiggo 7 Sport, which rescued the 1.5 turbo engine and was positioned at the price of a compact SUV. The strategy made sales triple – but also generated waiting lines of more than five months…

In 2025, another novelty. The debut of a plug-in hybrid version. But this is still imported from China. Recently, the Tiggo 7 PHEV was updated and received a new electrified set.
Chery’s history in Brazil started turbulently, with fragile models with a very bad mechanical reputation, such as QQ, Face and S18. All criticized for performance, finish and after-sales.
The turning point began in 2017, when the Caoa Group took over 50% of the brand’s operations in the country. From then on, national production took shape: the Tiggo 2 was the first fruit of the partnership, made in Jacareí (SP), followed by the Tiggo 5x, Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 manufactured in Anápolis (GO).
The São Paulo plant still produced the Tiggo 3x, nothing more than the remodeled Tiggo 2, but the SUV barely completed a year as the factory was closed in 2022. Today, only the Goiás unit continues to make the trio of SUVs.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro cheers up well, thanks to its 1.6 turbo engine with 187 hp of power and 28 kgfm of torque. It is mated to the seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. The set guarantees quick responses and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.

The medium SUV has a good disposition in any rev range and offers safe retakes. Even so, the gearbox usually shows some hesitation in low-speed maneuvers, especially in the urban environment.
With a length of 4.50 meters and a wheelbase of 2.67 m, the Caoa Chery Tiggo 7 stands out for its interior space superior to that of many competitors – it is larger than Jeep Compass and Toyota Corolla Cross, for example, the two leaders in the category.

The cabin accommodates five occupants well, with a low central tunnel and high roof that improve the feeling of spaciousness. The driving position is tall, but without exaggeration, and the ergonomics work well most of the time. The trunk takes a good 475 liters.
The suspension prioritizes comfort and absorbs irregularities well, but the acoustic insulation still leaves something to be desired, especially at high speeds. The finish evolved after restyling, although fitting flaws and apparent burrs persist in some parts of the door and panel coverings.
The handling of the Tiggo 7 follows a more comfortable proposal. The multi-link rear suspension, for example, contributes to stability, but the soft calibration causes some body roll in curves.
The steering with electric assistance, in turn, is precise and conveys safety. Only at higher speeds does it ask for some corrections. A behavior, in general, that matches the family SUV proposal.
The 2022 line brought the 48V mild hybrid system to the versions equipped with the 1.5 turbo. The system assists the combustion engine in starts and resumes, reducing consumption and emissions. There is no 100% electric running, but the efficiency gain is noticeable in urban use.
With electrification, consumption in the city of the Chery Tiggo 7 goes from 10.2 km/l to 11.1 km/l, according to data from Inmetro. But the road gets worse: from 13 km/l to 11.2 km/l.

After the presentation of its first plug-in hybrid version in 2025, Caoa Chery updated the Tiggo 7 PHEV in the 2027 line and named it Super Hybrid. The 1.5 turbo engine gained direct injection, the electric one became more powerful and the battery was beefier, with a capacity of 18.4 kWh.
With this, the pluggable Tiggo 7 delivers 279 hp of power and 37,2 kgfm of torque combined. The electric range went from 60 km to 68 km. And urban consumption jumped from 36.4 km/l when using the entire battery and to 12.3 km/l in combined use (PBEV/Inmetro).
The Caoa Chery Tiggo 7 is currently sold in the 2027 line in four versions. Check the prices.
Today, the SUV is the best-selling Caoa Chery model in the country. From January to May 2026, the model accounted for 12,092 registrations. It is the fifth most licensed in the category, behind Jeep Compass, GWM Haval H6, Toyota Corolla Cross and BYD Song (which brings together the Pro and Plus versions).
The suggestion is the Tiggo 7 Pro Max Drive 2023. Still within the factory warranty (five years), it offers good stuffing and the mechanical set with 187 hp of power and automated dual-clutch transmission.
This version of the SUV comes with the Max Drive package, which includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistant, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot sensor and door opening alert.

Add to that six airbags, 360° camera, fatigue detector, dual zone automatic air conditioning, electric front seats, wireless smartphone charger and panoramic sunroof. The multimedia center on a 10″ screen allows connection with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Chery Tiggo 7 requires special attention to the turbo engine and the oil-bathed dual-clutch transmission. The five-year warranty is a positive point, but external parts and trim components tend to have higher values than the segment average.
