With 226 hp and a range of 424 km, the debut model with electronic differential lock and a look inspired by the 1976 Golf
Volkswagen has made the world premiere of the ID. Polo GTI, the first all-electric model to bear the sporty acronym in its 50-year history. Presented as a concept close to production, the model marks the transition from the lineage started by the Golf in 1976 to electrification, using the MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive.
The powertrain delivers 226 hp and 29,6 kgfm, allowing the compact to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6,8 seconds. The top speed is limited to 175 km/h. To ensure the agility characteristic of the acronym, the manufacturer equipped the hatch with electronic front differential lock and DCC adaptive suspension as standard items, in addition to a GTI driving profile that adjusts the chassis calibration and the cockpit interface.

The ID. Polo GTI uses a 52 kWh battery, which offers a range of up to 424 km in the WLTP cycle. The direct current (DC) fast charging system supports up to 105 kW, allowing you to raise the battery level from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes. According to Volkswagen, energy management has been optimized to maintain a constant load curve.

In the design, the model rescues classic proportions and iconic elements, such as the red stripe that crosses the front grille and the sports seats with an exclusive pattern. The digital dashboard features a “Retro Mode” that replicates the instruments of the original Golf GTI. Sales in Europe are expected to begin in the autumn, serving as the basis for the brand’s strategy to democratize electrical performance.
