Chinese manufacturer adapts technology to ethanol and projects network with 150 dealerships to gain volume in the domestic market
Omoda & Jaecoo has announced that it will launch a new line of hybrid flex engines in Brazil soon. The strategy, which is part of the Chinese company’s plan to become one of the ten largest brands in the country, provides for the adaptation of its portfolio to the local energy matrix with engines compatible with pure ethanol. The new architecture is scheduled to debut in the first half of 2027.
According to the company, the development of the flex hybrid system does not replace current technologies, but acts as a complement aimed at entry-level models and high sales volume. The movement supports what the brand calls the “democratization of luxury”, offering technical robustness in accordance with Brazilian supply standards. To support the advance, the subsidiary plans to reach 150 dealerships in the country by the end of 2026.

According to Roger Corassa, executive vice president of the brand in Brazil, continuous adaptation is necessary in view of the evolution of fuels and local regulatory requirements. The company reinforces that the current products already meet the technical standards of the Brazilian authorities, but the future nationalization of models will require this diversification of technologies.
While the flex engine is developed, the manufacturer’s immediate bet for 2026 is the Jaecoo 7 Elite. Equipped with the Super Hybrid System (SHS), the SUV delivers 279 hp and a combined range of up to 1,200 km, declared by the manufacturer. The model features items such as a 13.2″ multimedia screen and refrigerated induction charger. After the pre-sale period, the price of the SUV will be R$ 189.990.
