Medium SUV is still the market leader even after 10 years in line, but will receive a new platform and even an electric version
The second-generation Jeep Compass will complete 10 years of production in Brazil in September 2026 and remains the country’s best-selling medium SUV. Even with the arrival of many different competitors, especially electrified Chinese ones, Stellantis will launch the next generation only in 2028.
The next update we will have in the national Jeep Compass will be the adoption of the 48-volt mild hybrid system along with the 1.3 turbo flex engine. According to the Autos Segredos portal , the launch of this novelty has been postponed to the second half of 2026.

This electrification is already present in the Renegade and Compass brothers. The 48-volt mild hybrid uses a 15.2 hp and 6.6 kgfm electric motor in place of the alternating and starter motor, which assists the 1.3 turbo with extra force in some situations and can reduce consumption by up to 9.4%.
In addition, the Jeep Compass mild hybrid will be exempt from IPVA in six states and is out of the vehicle rotation in São Paulo (SP). Other than this change, the SUV will continue as we know it.

But what about the new generation? There are many speculations on the internet, including some of keeping the current platform and just changing the style. The sources of journalist Marlos Ney Vidal, editor of the Autos Segredos portal, point out that the plant in Goiana (PE) will produce the new generation of the Jeep Compass from 2028 on the modern STLA Medium platform.
The medium SUV will be responsible for bringing this architecture to Brazil, which will be used in the future in the successors of the Jeep Commander, Fiat Toro, Ram Rampage and a possible national Peugeot 3008. These novelties are scheduled to arrive by 2030.
The new Jeep Compass is internally called the J4U project. The national model will always be electrified, with 48-volt mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric engine options.
In Europe and the USA, the Compass uses an updated version of the 1.6 turbo THP engine, which was used here by Peugeot and Citroën. In Brazil, the 1.3 turbo flex GSE will be adopted, which already moves the current generation and other national models of Stellantis.
Another mechanical change is that we will continue with the six-speed Aisin automatic transmission in the mild hybrid model, while in Europe a dual-clutch gearbox is adopted. The plug-in hybrid model will have a dry dual-clutch transmission and a 17.9 kWh battery.
The model that will arrive later, in 2030, will be the electric one. This version has a 73.7 kWh battery.
What is still up in the air is whether the Blackhawk sports model will continue. The third-generation Jeep Compass produced in the USA can receive the 2.0 turbo Hurricane of the new generation, which can work in Miller cycle and yields 337 hp.

The new generation of the Jeep Compass adopts a squarer and more robust look than the current one, referring to the new Cherokee. The beltline has become straighter and all the columns are black, to give a better floating roof effect.
The size is larger and closer to Chinese rivals, measuring 4.55 meters long, 1.92 m wide, 1.67 m high and 2.79 m wheelbase. The free span is 22 cm.
This improved the interior space and also the trunk, which will be 550 liters. The rear seat became a tripartite, with a 40:20:40 division. In the cabin there are also 34 liters of space adding up to the volume of all the storage racks.
The dashboard of the new Compass follows the current style of more horizontal lines and with the multimedia center at the top highlighted. The set of air conditioning buttons has been reduced, but it has shortcuts to the main functions. The volume button was also retained.
On the console is the rotary selector of the gearbox, being aligned with the bigger brothers. It is next to the terrain selector that will come only in the versions with four-wheel drive.
With all these improvements, the new Jeep Compass will be better prepared to face the Chinese rivals that are coming to Brazil. And it will also provide modern architecture to modernize the Stellantis range.
