GWM recorded a sales start above expectations for the new Ora 5 electric SUV in the Brazilian market. The manufacturer announced that the initial batch of more than 2 units of the model was fully reserved in just 24 hours after the official opening of sales, a result that led the company to make a second batch available to meet demand.

The Ora 5 is the brand’s first 100% electric SUV sold in Brazil and arrives to face competitors from brands such as BYD, GAC and Leapmotor (which is already developing a compact to compete in Brazil). According to the company, the volume traded on the first day exceeded the projection initially established for the entire first month of commercialization of the model.

Launched with a suggested price of R$ 159 thousand (in promotional condition valid until the end of June), the Ora 5 is sold in a single version and can be reserved by paying R$ 9 thousand in advance, through the automaker’s website, the Mercado Livre platform or the brand’s dealership network. From July, the price of the model will increase to R$ 169 thousand.

With a length of 4.47 meters and a wheelbase of 2.72 meters, the SUV uses a 204 hp front electric motor and 26.5 kgfm of torque. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 7.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 170 km/h. The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery has a capacity of 58.3 kWh.

According to Inmetro, the range of the Ora 5 reaches 349 kilometers, while the international WLTP standard points to a range of up to 435 kilometers. In direct current fast chargers with a power of up to 120 kW, 30% to 80% of the battery can be recharged in approximately 20 minutes.

Ora 5 ‘Made in Brazil’

The Ora 5 is also quoted for national production. It should be the model that will inaugurate the brand’s new plant in Aracruz (ES) – which will be officially announced this Tuesday (30), as executives confided to AutoPapo, during the Beijing Motor Show, in April 2026.

In China, the model is also offered with a hybrid engine, which could be the brand’s bet here.
