Arcfox is one of BAIC’s three automotive divisions, which also owns Foton — which is present in Brazil with trucks and the Tunland pickup. This sub-brand specializes in electric cars with a premium finish.
It is part of a collaboration with Huawei and uses the company’s operating system. In China they also offer REEV mechanics, with autonomy extender.
BAIC Arcfox T1
The Arcfox T1 will be BAIC’s entry-level car, which in China competes with the BYD Dolphin and the Geely EX2. It measures 4.33 m in length, 2.77 m in wheelbase, 1.86 m in width and 1.57 m in height.
BAIC placed the model as an SUV in Brazil, although in China it is positioned as a hatchback. The version chosen for Brazil has a 42.3 kWh battery, which abroad is linked to the 129 hp engine that drives the front wheels.
The car sold in Brazil will have a panoramic sunroof, a 15.6-inch multimedia center with only wireless Apple CarPlay, 540° cameras with 3D view, ADAS level 2+ package, electrically adjustable front seats, heating, ventilation and memory, electric trunk opening and parking assistant.
BAIC Arcfox T5
The BAIC Arcfoc T5 is a medium electric SUV, which stands out for its very low drag coefficient of 0.24. It measures 4069 m in length, 2.84 m in wheelbase, 1.93 m in width and 1.65 m in height.
The SUV configuration for Brazil will have a 74.4 kWh battery, which can receive ultra-fast recharges thanks to the 800-volt architecture. In China, it is combined with the 272 hp and 36,7 kgfm electric motor.
BAIC has not revealed the equipment package of the Arcfox T5, but we can notice that the doors are opened internally through buttons, it has a 540° camera, sunroof and ADAS package.
More details about these cars and BAIC’s plans for Brazil will come in the future, in November. The brand is studying to bring more models and have national production, just like the other Chinese ones.
