Honda has given another indication that it may expand its offensive in the electric motorcycle segment. The Japanese manufacturer had the industrial design registration of the Honda UC3 published by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), revealing the look of the electric scooter in Brazil. The model is already the manufacturer’s second motorcycle with a patent protected here, and the novelty rekindles market expectations for a possible arrival of the brand’s first electrified in the country.

Electric motorcycles and Honda in Brazil

The electric motorcycle market in Brazil has been developing little by little, and its last high was in early 2025, when Yamaha presented its Neo’s Connected scooter. Since then, market expectations have turned to Honda. After all, its great rival has already presented a 100% electric one, while the Brazilian market leader works only with combustion models.

Shortly after the episode, Honda said it would bring an electric motorcycle to Brazil. This has been more than a year and seems to have been just a bluff in the face of Yamaha’s onslaught. The brand already has models such as the small Activa e: and QC1, in India, and, worldwide, there is also its first motorcycle itself, the WN7, among others.

New expectations

Despite the novelty, the document does not mean that the motorcycle will be marketed in Brazil. The filing of patents and industrial designs is a common practice among manufacturers to protect the intellectual property of their products and prevent the reproduction of the design by third parties, regardless of a future release.

AutoPapo questioned Honda about the possible novelty and the arrival of an electric motorcycle from the brand in the country. According to the brand:

Honda recognizes that there is potential for this market and continues to study alternatives that better serve the Brazilian consumer. At the moment, the brand has not yet announced its plan to electrify motorcycles for the Brazilian market.”

The Japanese said that she is still studying the best time to bring top models to Brazil and that the registration is really linked to the standard process of defending rights.

What is the Honda UC3 like?

Initially presented in Thailand and Vietnam, the Honda UC3 was developed to meet urban mobility. According to the brand, its performance is equivalent to that of a motorcycle equipped with a combustion engine of approximately 110 cm³.

The model also inaugurates a new global strategy for Honda for its line of electric motorcycles, adopting unprecedented solutions within the manufacturer.

LFP battery guarantees up to 122 km of autonomy

The UC3 uses a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, a technology first employed by Honda in an electric motorcycle intended for personal use. The set is combined with an electric motor developed by the manufacturer itself, capable of delivering 6.0 kW of maximum power.

According to Honda, the range can reach 122 km per charge, according to the WMTC Mode 1 measurement cycle, used in Thailand. The scooter also has a regenerative braking system, which recovers some of the energy during decelerations to increase efficiency.

Three riding and reverse modes

Honda has equipped the UC3 with three riding modes for different usage situations: standard, sport and Econ.

Another differential is the reverse gear function, a feature that facilitates maneuvers in parking spaces and places with little space.

In design, the scooter bets on smooth and continuous lines, with a horizontal light signature at the front. The finish combines predominantly black bodywork with golden details, reinforcing the visual identity of the brand’s new generation of electric models.

Recharge follows international standard

The Honda UC3 uses the CHAdeMO charging standard for motorcycles, a specification developed by the CHAdeMO Association. To meet different usage needs, the manufacturer offers two compatible chargers, with 450 W and 1,200 W of power.
