Sedan and hatchback undergo deep restyling, gain unprecedented equipment and bring news that may arrive in Brazil soon
Honda presented the new City 2027 in the Indian market, which is undergoing its most profound restyling in this fifth generation. With substantial design changes, as well as new equipment and technology package, the update covers the sedan and hatchback bodies. The launch in Brazil should take place in a matter of months. In recent weeks, the model has been spotted in tests in the country under heavy camouflage, signaling that the Japanese manufacturer should not take long to align the national market with global news.

The automaker’s main bet was to abandon conservatism. Inspired by the Prelude sports coupe, the City adopts more dynamic and aggressive lines. The front concentrates the biggest changes, with more tapered LED headlights interconnected by a continuous light bar and the movement of the logo to the upper section, above a new front grille. At the rear, the unprecedented lower extractor and the internal redesign of the translucent taillights stand out.

The aesthetic modifications to the bumpers added three centimeters to the length of the vehicle, which now reaches 4.57 meters. The proportions of interior space, however, were maintained, preserving the wheelbase of 2.60 m and the trunk of 519 liters.
In the cabin, Honda aimed at criticism of connectivity. The old interface was replaced by a 10.1″ floating multimedia center, optimizing the viewing angle. The sedan also incorporates a camera with a 360º view and ventilated front seats, while the physical climate controls were preserved.

The list of active safety equipment, which includes adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking, remains restricted to the top versions. For the Brazilian market, however, the LX entry configuration should gain a face-to-face key and push-button start.
Under the hood, the strategy for Brazil differs from the Indian one, which has a hybrid variant capable of doing 27.2 km/l. Here, the model will maintain the 1.5 flex direct injection engine with 126 hp and 15,8 kgfm with ethanol, coupled to the CVT automatic transmission that simulates seven gears. Honda confirmed that electrification in the domestic market will only begin in 2028, restricted to the HR-V SUV.

Currently priced between R$ 117.5 thousand and R$ 153.2 thousand, the City line should undergo price adjustment when the new generation arrives in the country.
