New generation of tires still promises 7 thousand extra km of driving time and reduction in braking distance; project was adapted to the weight of electric cars
Michelin has announced the launch of the Primacy 5 line in the Brazilian market, positioning the model as a high-performance solution for a diverse range of vehicles. Available for 16 to 20-inch wheels, the tire was designed to balance safety, energy efficiency and durability, serving from combustion compacts to heavy electric and hybrid models that are gaining space in the national fleet.
The main technological advance of the new product lies in the ability to brake on wet surfaces. According to the manufacturer, in track tests, the Primacy 5 recorded a reduction of up to 5.5 meters in stopping distance compared to the average of its main competitors. Performance is supported by EverGrip technology, which preserves traction even with natural wear and tear of the rubber, and by the EverTread system, which increases water drainage by 10% to mitigate the risk of aquaplaning.

In terms of longevity, the model has a useful life 18% longer than the previous generation. In practice, this gain represents about 7 thousand extra kilometers of mileage before replacement is necessary – a determining factor for the long-term maintenance cost and for the reduction of early disposal of solid waste, aligning the product with environmental sustainability goals.

Adapting to the electrification era required structural changes to the casing to cope with the instantaneous torque and increased weight of the batteries. Michelin has reinforced the intermediate contact bands to mitigate vibrations and ensure cabin sound insulation. In addition, the brand points to a 5% reduction in rolling resistance, a feature that optimizes the autonomy of electric vehicles and favors fuel economy in thermal models, reducing CO2 emissions.
