Electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft bets on tourist flights and autonomous technology to expand GAC's operations beyond the automotive sector
GAC Group has started production of the AirCab, its first eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), developed by the Govy Mobility division. The expectation is to produce about 100 units per year.
Unlike many projects that are still in the development phase, AirCab has already obtained the necessary certifications for commercial operation and has successfully completed crash tests, reaching the market as a ready-to-use product.

The aircraft uses a lightweight carbon fiber structure and has six arms equipped with pairs of propellers responsible for lift and movement during flight. Although the manufacturer has not yet released autonomy data, it confirmed that the model employs cylindrical batteries with high energy density, capable of performing a full recharge in approximately 25 minutes.
The AirCab will cost from 1.68 million yuan (approximately R$1.2 million), so GAC does not intend to position the AirCab as a large-scale urban mobility solution, and for now its focus is on the tourism segment, with specialized operators offering scenic flights and aerial experiences. The aircraft also features Level 4 autonomous flight, which means that it acts mostly without human action.
