The fifth generation of the hybrid sedan records historical efficiency of 48.41% and adopts artificial intelligence in the cloud to optimize fuel
Geely Auto has announced the launch of the fifth generation of the Emgrand i-HEV hybrid sedan for June 16, 2026, in China. The great highlight of the model is its combustion engine, which reaches the historic mark of 48.41% thermal efficiency, the highest ever recorded. Thanks to this index, the car achieved a Guinness World Record after recording consumption of just 2.22 L/100 km in tests carried out on a closed circuit on Hainan Island.

Built on the BMA Evo modular architecture, the sedan uses a complex combination of combustion engine and electrical system. However, the set comes down to 308 hp. The brand declares acceleration from zero to 30 km/h in 1.84 seconds, which is a common standard in Chinese measurements.

The vehicle automatically switches between 100% electric (capable of running up to 66 km/h without starting the engine), parallel hybrid and direct drive modes. All power management is commanded by the Star Smart AI Cloud Power 2.0 cloud system. This AI analyzes factors such as altitude, runway slope, humidity, and temperature in real time to define the best combination of electricity and fuel, improving efficiency by 10%.

To reduce the common nuisance of hybrid engines, Geely applied active noise control (EOC) and engine stop prediction technology, decreasing starting vibration by 32.7%. With the aid of a lightweight 1 kWh battery, the interior noise level is only 1 dB higher than a purely electric car.

The launch crowns a bullish moment for the manufacturer. In May 2026, the Geely group reached 237,637 units sold, with 56% of the volume coming from electrified models. The brand also broke its monthly export record by shipping 85,144 vehicles out of China.
