BYD is preparing the global debut of the third generation of the Atto 3 — known in Brazil as Yuan Plus — for the Beijing Motor Show, which opens its doors on April 24, 2026. The launch is the Chinese automaker’s main bet to regain prominence in the segment, after the model recorded a 73% retraction in sales during the first quarter of this year. To reverse the situation, the brand promoted a deep technical renovation that takes the SUV to a new level of performance.

Record-breaking recharging and new architecture

The biggest technological leap lies in the energy management system. BYD projects an unprecedented recharge speed in the segment: it will be possible to recover from 10% to 70% of the battery in just 5 minutes, reaching 97% of total capacity in less than 10 minutes. The system has been optimized to maintain efficiency in extreme conditions, operating without significant losses at temperatures down to -30°C. Another important structural change is the adoption of rear-wheel drive, replacing the front-wheel drive, which promises more refined driving dynamics.

New dimensions and minimalist cab

The SUV will also grow to increase on-board comfort. With an additional 21 cm in length, the wheelbase jumped to 2.77 m. Aesthetically, the model adopts more sophisticated lines, characterized by tapered headlights, a darkened roof finish and a rear light signature that crosses the entire trunk lid.

The third generation uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries and offers two levels of performance: the entry-level version, with a 268 hp engine and a range of 540 km, and the top-of-the-line, with a 322 hp engine and a range of 630 km.

Internally, BYD has followed the path of minimalism. The cabin was redesigned, transferring the gear lever to the steering column and adopting a two-spoke steering wheel. The center console is now dominated by a floating screen of large proportions, complemented by a state-of-the-art head-up display system.
