Electric compact has a good balance between performance and autonomy, in addition to coming with aggressive prices to fight with the leaders
The electric car market in Brazil grew skyrocketing after the launch of the BYD Dolphin in June 2023 and its brother Dolphin Mini in 2024. This duo only received a rival to match and with aggressive prices at the end of 2025, when the Geely EX2 debuted in the Brazilian market.
It has a similar size and autonomy to the BYD Dolphin GS, but the entry price rivals the Dolphin Mini. Geely also benefited from using Renault’s well-established operational infrastructure for the distribution of vehicles and parts.

Despite all these attributes, the sales performance of the Geely EX2 remains discreet. In the month of launch, November, it sold 835 units, in December it took off with 1,557 registrations.
In 2026 it started following this pace, selling 1,124 units. But in February sales plummeted to 193 units as Geely’s inventory ran out. With the arrival of another ship, the situation improved in March, with 1,157 cars registered.
During this period, the BYD Dolphin sold more: 801 units in November, 2,347 in December, 1,511 in January, 1,193 in February and 1,852 in March. The Dolphin Mini, which is already assembled in Brazil under the SKD regime, has a much higher volume and leads the electric segment by far.
During the month of March, another ship with Geely cars arrived in Brazil, but they are all already sold. Those who arrive at the dealerships are greeted with the information that there is a waiting time of 45 to 60 days to receive the vehicle.
In a group of owners of the Geely EX2 point out that in April two ships were sent to Brazil, instead of just one. This is to meet the demand for the compact, which remains high even with this waiting time.
The Geely EX2 is no longer sold at promotional launch prices and now starts at R$ 123.800 in the Pro version. The top-of-the-line Max model is priced at R$ 136.800. The brand does not charge more for paint options.
It stands out over the BYD Dolphin Mini, which starts at R$ 118.990 in several technical attributes. Starting with the measurements: it is 4.13 m long, 1.80 m wide and 2.65 m wheelbase. The size is similar to that of the Dolphin GS.
With this, the interior space is larger than that of the Dolphin Mini and there is also a trunk of 375 liters, larger than that of the Dolphin GS. As the EX2’s engine is rear, there is also a 70-liter front luggage compartment.
This engine position also allows the front wheels to steer more, resulting in a turning circle of 9.9 meters. It is smaller than that of a Fiat Mobi.
The 116 hp and 15.3 kgfm electric motor grants superior performance to rivals, with acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds. But it is good to remember that the Dolphin GS will be updated soon to receive the set that debuted in the SE model.
But when it comes to electric cars, the public wants to know one thing: autonomy. The Geely EX2 is 289 km in the Inmetro cycle even with a 39.4 kWh battery. According to the brand, this is thanks to the energy-efficient engine.
The Geely EX2 Pro is a car that is already well equipped for its price range regardless of the type of propulsion. It features items such as six airbags, rear seat ventilation outlet, digital air conditioning, full-LED headlights with automatic lighting, face-to-face key, reversing camera, parking sensor and cruise control. What clashes are the steel wheels with hubcaps.
The Pro version includes the ADAS package, automatic high beams, 16-inch alloy wheels, 540° camera, remote air conditioning activation, connected services via app, adaptive cruise control, induction charger, configurable ambient light, drawer-type glove box and sound system with six speakers.
Since March, the model has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the multimedia center. The system can receive remote updates.
By current market standards, the Geely EX2 continues to have the best cost/benefit ratio in the entry-level electric segment. It also has a network of parts stocked. The waiting time can be rewarding.
