Survey points to significant differences in income between capitals and interior, with a direct impact on the profitability of drivers
A survey by GigU shows that working by apps does not guarantee equal earnings in all regions of the country. The study points out that the location of the driver directly influences the profitability of the activity, with differences that can exceed R$ 13 thousand per year.
In the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, for example, the average profit is R$ 15.57 per hour, with a net margin of 43.6%. In the northwest of São Paulo, in cities such as Barretos and São José do Rio Preto, the value drops to R$ 10.11 per hour. In a monthly shift of 200 hours, the difference represents more than a thousand reais in the pocket.

In Minas Gerais, drivers in Greater Belo Horizonte receive R$ 16.05 per hour, against R$ 9.36 in the Triângulo Mineiro. In Rio de Janeiro, the average is R$ 18.49 in the capital and R$ 12.24 in cities in the interior. In Bahia, Salvador registers R$ 14.74 per hour, while regions such as Eunápolis and Porto Seguro are at R$ 8.88.
According to the CEO and co-founder of GigU, Luiz Gustavo Neves, capitals and metropolitan regions concentrate more rides, dynamic fares and premium categories, in addition to reducing idle time between trips.
In the countryside, despite the lower operating costs, the reduced volume of rides limits income. Still, there are exceptions. In Pernambuco and Ceará, some cities outside the capitals recorded a performance similar to or even higher than that of the metropolitan regions.
