The founder of Lecar, Flávio Figueiredo Assis, assumed that the company returned the money of 90% of customers who booked the 459 sedan. The information was revealed in an interview with Jornal do Carro.
Although the returns are ongoing, on Lecar’s official website it says that the launch conditions ended on June 30 and the new conditions will soon be announced. On the page it also keeps the promise to start production in August 2027.
On social media, the founder of Lecar showed off a car as a prototype, claiming that he will receive the mechanical assembly to be able to run. The vehicle still looks like a bubble, with bumpers, fenders and roof columns in one piece, without divisions.

In the interview given to Jornal do Carro, it was also said that the brand negotiated an agreement with Dongfeng to bring the compact Box as Lecar Pop. Flávio Figueiredo Assis said that there were five meetings, three of them in China.
The portal contacted Dongfeng’s representation, which confirmed Lecar’s contact. However, it was said that the negotiations were preliminary before the brand decided internally which strategy it would adopt in Brazil.
Sources from Jornal do Carro also pointed out that the partnership did not evolve due to financial issues, which was denied by Lecar. For Flávio Figueiredo Assis, the real reason was the loss of confidence after the public criticism that the Brazilian company received.
The businessman says that these criticisms have also driven away other potential investors. Even with all these developments, Flávio continues to state that the car will be launched and adds that he will have a new Chinese partner.
