The GAC Aion UT was launched in Brazil in two versions to catch the most competitive segments of electric cars. The Premium matches the entry-level models, but was overshadowed by the Geely EX2, now let’s see how the top-of-the-line Elite compares to the BYD Dolphin SE, the GWM Ora 03 and the MG4 Comfort.

In this price range we have more equipped cars, greater power and autonomy of around 300 km. They are more multipurpose electric and focused on the private consumer, you won’t see these models running much in applications as with the entry-level ones.

In today’s comparison we also have cars with more marked personalities. The comparison will be objective, but we know that the consumer can make the purchase in a model for beauty. Let’s go to the clash?

The GAC Aion UT Elite came in third position with 310 km of range. The BYD Dolphin SE is the only one below 300 km, in the Brazilian standardized cycle it achieved 272 km of autonomy.

  • GAC Aion UT Elite: 310 km
  • BYD Dolphin SE: 272 km
  • GWM Ora 03 BEV58: 315 km
  • MG4 Comfort: 364 km

Recharging power

Cars with larger batteries need to have more recharging power, so that the driver does not have to wait for a long time on a trip or in emergencies. MG Motor has done a great job in this regard, the 4 Comfort can receive slow charges of up to 11 kW and fast charges of up to 140 kW.

In second place was the GAC Aion UT Elite, with fast charging of 87 kW, and in third is the BYD Dolphin SE with 80 kW. Interestingly, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 can receive AC charging as strong as the MG4, but it has the slowest DC charging.

These values represent the maximum recharging power that cars can receive. In practice, the amount will depend on the charger.

Performance

Thanks to the higher torque and rear-wheel drive, it accelerates better than the Aion UT (Photo: MG | Disclosure)

The GAC Aion UT is the most powerful electric hatch in the comparison, but it was not the fastest by a small difference. The MG4 Comfort accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.2 s, 0.1 s better than its rival.

This can be explained by the higher torque and rear-wheel drive, which helps to pass power to the ground in starts. The BYD Dolphin SE was in third place and the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 was at the bottom.

The MG4 and Dolphin SE are the only ones with independent rear suspension. GAC and GWM insist on the torsion shaft.

The fight here was fierce between the GAC Aion UT, the BYD Dolphin SE and the GWM Ora 03 BEV58, all of which are well stuffed and bring items such as an ADAS package. Only GAC and GWM have a sunroof.

The MG4, which excelled in the mechanical part, did poorly here. It comes with fabric seats, speakers only in the front and the ADAS systems are simplified, to be in line with these rivals you need to take the Luxury model of R$ 189.800.

Winner: Draw between GAC Aion UT Elite, BYD Dolphin SE and GWM Ora 03 BEV58.

Interior space and trunk

The BYD Dolphin SE is larger than the GS, but the growth was only in the front section to be safer, the wheelbase remains at 2.70 m. The GAC Aion UT has the largest wheelbase, 2.75 m, higher than that of medium sedans. The MG4 Comfort also measures 2.70 m like the BYD, while the GWM Ora 03 BEV 58 has 2.58 m.

The MG4 wins again when it comes to the trunk, its volume is 350 liters, the Aion UT is homologated for 340 liters, the Dolphin takes 250 liters and the Ora 03 has a meagre 228 liters. Overall, the GAC is the one that best accommodates passengers and their luggage.

Dealerships

Thanks to the longer range, strong motor and recharging power, these electric cars are more apt to travel. Having a dealership network brings more peace of mind at these times, as the owner knows he will have support.

And in this matter, no Chinese brand surpasses BYD, which already has 200 authorized by the country. It is almost double that of the second place, which is GWM. GAC and MG still have less than 30, most of them in capitals.

  • GAC: 33 dealerships
  • BYD: 200 dealerships
  • GWM: 104 dealerships
  • MG: 24 concessionaires

Winner: BYD Dolphin SE

Warranty

GAC gives the longest time warranty for its electric hatchback, eight years, but limits mileage to 160 km. GWM gives the shortest time coverage here, five years, but no mileage limit. For those who run a lot, the Ora 03 can be advantageous.

The battery of all is covered for 8 years or 200 thousand km, with the exception of the MG4 which is covered for 160 thousand km.

The combination of good autonomy, performance, interior space and equipment favored the rookie (Photo: GAC | Disclosure)

The fight was fierce, the MG4 Comfort brought the best mechanical set, greater autonomy and recharging power, but it sins for being the least equipped. This ended up favoring the GAC Aion UT Elite, which came close in several aspects and stood out for being spacious and well-equipped.

The second position was tied between the MG4 and the BYD Dolphin SE, which is well equipped and has the largest dealership network. Its big defect is in the lower autonomy and the smaller trunk.

The stylish GWM Ora 03 BEV58 was highlighted only in the equipment offer, but at least it has a good autonomy and a praised assistance network. He is the passionate choice of the group, for those who enjoy the retro style.

  1. GAC Aion UT Elite: 4 points
  2. BYD Dolphin SE: 3 points
  3. MG4 Comfort: 3 points
  4. GWM Ora 03 BEV58: 1 point
