Executive confirms return of Ram 1500 V8 to Brazil
Fan-acclaimed engine will come in a single configuration, expected to debut in the Brazilian market only next year

Ram was the subject of controversy when it abandoned the V8 engine to focus on the six-cylinder in-line biturbo. At the end of 2025 it brought the Hemi 5.7 back in the US, which was well accepted even though it offered lower performance than the turbocharged engine.
During the launch of the new 1500 Big Horn, Ram’s vice president in South America, Juliano Machado, confirmed that the V8 will return to Brazil. The executive was economical in the details, but assured that these engines will return in a new configuration.

As it is necessary to carry out the engine homologations for the new emission standards, the Ram 1500 V8 should only hit the market in 2027. This will not affect the current range, the biturbo inline six will continue to be offered for those who want more performance and don’t mind the rumble.
Ram’s V8 engine

Stellantis did not develop a new V8 engine for the Ram 1500, it returned to produce the old Hemi 5.7. It has a camshaft in the block and two valves per cylinder, following the old recipe just like General Motors does.
The Hemi 5.7 produces 400 hp and 56,7 kgfm, the same numbers it yielded before being retired. It is currently offered only with the eTorque system, the name given to the 48-volt mild hybrid that helps reduce emissions.
It is less powerful than the six-cylinder in-line biturbo, but it is treated as an option in the current line and is even more expensive in some versions. On pickup trucks equipped with this engine, an emblem called a “protest symbol” is installed.
Which versions of the Ram 1500 could come with the V8

As the executive only said that the V8 engine will come in an exclusive version, we can only speculate what the configuration will be. Currently the Ram 1500 range includes the Big Horn, Laramie and Laramie Night Edition models.
When the large pickup began to be imported to Brazil, Stellantis’ choice was the Rebel model. This off-road option is still available in the US and may come with the V8 5.7 Hemi.
Another alternative is for the V8 engine to return to Brazil in the new Rumble Bee sports version, with a focus on performance on asphalt. It can come with the 5.7 with 400 hp, with the 6.4 with 477 hp or with the 6.2 equipped with a mechanical compressor, capable of delivering 788 hp.

The Rumble Bee version has lower and firmer suspension, widened fenders and asphalt tires. It returns with the concept of a sports pickup truck that was popular in the 90s and 2000s.
Another option focused on performance and with a V8 engine from the Ram 1500 is the TRX. It follows the formula of Ford’s Raptor line, with raised suspension and prepared for off-road at high speed. The engine is the same 6.2 with a 788 hp mechanical compressor as the stronger Rumble Bee.
The exact answer to this will only be known in 2027 or when a car is spotted in tests. Those who like the V8 Hemi will have to wait a few more months.
