Chevrolet unveiled the new Silverado 1500: two new naturally aspirated V8s, digital cabin and seven versions. Pickup arrives in the US at the end of 2026
Chevrolet unveiled the new generation of the Silverado 1500, and the highlight goes against the global trend of downsizing (the reduction of engine size in the name of efficiency). While rivals such as the Ford F-150 have migrated to smaller turbo engines and hybrid versions, General Motors has bet on two new naturally aspirated V8s, 5.7 and 6.6 liters, which the brand says are the most powerful in the category among aspirated ones. It is the biggest renewal of the pickup in years — the previous generation dates from 2018 — and reinforces the dispute with the leader Ford F-150.
The two engines replace the old 5.3 and 6.2-liter V8s and are part of GM’s new generation of small-block engines. Chevrolet, which calls the model “the most powerful Silverado in history”, has not yet released power and torque figures, but promises gains over the current lineup. Completing the range are the four-cylinder 2.7 turbo, now with a ten-speed automatic transmission (previously there were eight), and the 3.0 Duramax diesel, a rarity in the large pickup segment.
On the outside, it is not a touch-up: the pickup has a new design, with a more imposing front, new LED headlights and taillights and redesigned fenders in all versions. The classic front grille, however, remains the center of the visual identity.

The biggest leap, however, is in the cabin: all versions come standard with a 12.2″ instrument panel and a 16.3″ multimedia center — much larger than the 7″ and 13.4″ screens of the previous generation. The ZR2 and High Country versions also gain a third screen, 11.5″, aimed at the passenger, in addition to a head-up display.

The range was reorganized into seven versions: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, ZR2 and High Country — the name LT gave way to simply “Silverado”. At the top of the off-road, the ZR2 features 35-inch mixed-use tires, electronic locking of the front and rear differentials and Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers; an even beefier ZR2 Bison edition adds aluminum bumpers and reinforced protections. High Country, on the other hand, aims for luxury, with an unprecedented panoramic sunroof, wood finishes and the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which allows you to drive hands-free even while towing.
In the United States, the new Silverado hits stores at the end of 2026, with prices to be defined. In Brazil, where the current version is sold imported, renewal is expected for 2027, although GM has not yet confirmed the date.
