Volkswagen has registered the patents for the Lavida Pro sedan with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), indicating the possibility of launching it in Brazil. The model, developed in China in partnership with Saic, comes amid a restructuring of the manufacturer’s portfolio in the domestic market, which currently has only the Virtus and Jetta GLI in the sedan segment.

The Lavida Pro is larger than the Virtus and is close to the dimensions of the current Jetta. With a length of 4.72 meters and a wheelbase of 2.68 m, the sedan bets on a more refined design. At the front, the tapered headlights are interconnected by an LED bar, in a trend that is repeated at the rear with taillights that cross the trunk lid. A detail that draws attention is the illuminated Volkswagen logo at both ends of the car.

Under the hood, the Chinese version of the Lavida Pro uses the 1.5 turbo engine, capable of delivering 160 hp and 25,5 kgfm. This engine would strategically position it above the conventional versions of the Virtus and below the Jetta GLI, which has a purely sporty appeal. Inside, the model follows the brand’s digitalization standard, with a digital instrument panel and touch-sensitive multimedia center, in addition to finishing with soft materials and light tones on the dashboard and doors.

Asked by Autoesporte about the launch, Volkswagen informed that there is no official position on the introduction of the model in the domestic market, treating the registration as a defensive measure of ownership. However, the registration of the variant with a honeycomb grille and sporty details suggests that, if approved, the Lavida Pro could act as a premium option in an increasingly restricted sedan market.
