New GWM Haval H9 2026 maintains chassis structure on stringers, preserves combustion mechanics and bets on technology to face difficult terrain
GWM has made official the launch of the new Haval H9 line in the Chinese market, positioning the model as a robust and technologically updated alternative for the off-road segment. With prices ranging from 199,900 to 247,900 yuan (equivalent to a range of R$ 146 thousand to R$ 182 thousand in direct conversion), the SUV reaffirms the brand’s strategy of maintaining a diversified portfolio for off-road enthusiasts, who do not need electrification.
Unlike the global trend of monocoque models, the Haval H9 preserves the construction on a stringer chassis and bets on combustion engines. The line offers two configurations: a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine, which delivers 224 hp and 39,3 kgfm, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a 2.4 turbo diesel unit, with 186 hp and 49,0 kgfm, which works with a nine-speed gearbox. The all-wheel drive uses BorgWarner’s Torque on Demand (TOD) system, complemented by mechanical differential locks on both axles.

Visually, the mid-life update introduces a blacked-out trim package, which replaces chrome with matte black on the grille, bumpers and mirrors. The silhouette maintains the traditional square shape, with the spare tire mounted on the tailgate, essential to maximize space in a vehicle 5.07 meters long and 2.85 meters wheelbase. The 800 mm immersion capacity and 32-degree angle of attack reinforce the utilitarian capability.

Inside, external sobriety gives way to an advanced digital interface. The panel is dominated by a 15.6-inch screen, managed by the Coffee OS 3 system. The platform integrates generative artificial intelligence (Coffee GPT) and voice commands that recognize multiple cabin zones. The technological package is completed by level 2 driving assistance, 540° cameras and a trunk with automated opening, balancing the rustic of the chassis with modern comfort.
