The platform states that the changes were defined based on criteria pointed out by users in the Black and Comfort categories
Uber announced that as of January 11, 2027, several models will no longer be accepted in the Black and Comfort modalities in Brazil, regardless of the year of manufacture, and there will be an update of the minimum year required for registration in several cities.
In the Black category, 11 models will be excluded from the list of eligible vehicles, including the Chevrolet Cruze, Audi A3, Toyota Prius, Hyundai Ioniq, Volkswagen Nivus and Citroën C4 Cactus.

Renault Duster, Caoa Chery Arrizo 5, Citroën C4 Lounge, Volkswagen Virtus and BYD Dolphin will also leave the category. The Virtus will have an extended deadline until July 5, 2027, while the Dolphin can be registered until December 31, 2026 and will remain valid in Black until December 31, 2027.
In addition, Uber will require newer vehicles for the Black category in the main capitals of the country. In cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Recife and Brasília, the minimum year for most models will be 2018 or 2019, depending on the municipality.
In the Comfort category, 11 models will also be removed from the accepted list, including Fiat Argo, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Voyage, Chevrolet Prisma, Toyota Yaris and Peugeot 208.
For Comfort, the minimum year of manufacture will also be updated according to the city. In São Paulo, for example, the requirement will be 2019 for most models, while in Curitiba, the minimum will be 2020, while in cities such as Santos, Uberlândia, Londrina and São José dos Campos it will continue in 2016.
Uber said that the new lists were defined based on aspects considered important by users in choosing the Comfort and Black categories. Among the criteria for drivers to remain in these modalities are to have more than 100 trips made on the platform and maintain an average of 4.8 rating.
