New table leaves the entry-level XEi version costing more than the top-of-the-line variant of BYD's plug-in hybrid competitor
Toyota has announced a price adjustment across the Corolla lineup valid for June 2026. The medium sedan, which still leads the segment alone with averages of more than 2,200 monthly registrations, was up to R$ 3,100 more expensive. With the increase, prices for the model now start at R$ 177.590 and reach R$ 210.090.

The new price positioning leaves the Japanese sedan in a vulnerable situation against modern electrified competitors. The entry-level version for the general public, the XEi, rose to R$ 177.590.

This value is higher than that of the BYD King, a plug-in hybrid that is sold for R$ 172.990 in the GL version and R$ 175.990 in the top-of-the-line GS. Thus, BYD’s most equipped option costs R$ 1.600 less than the cheapest combustion version of the Corolla.
Although the consumer pays more, there was no visual or mechanical change in the current line. The combustion models (XEi, Altis and GR-S) maintain the 2.0 flex engine with up to 175 hp and 21,3 kgfm, coupled to the simulated ten-speed CVT transmission. The GR-S variant features firm suspension and a sporty look signed by Gazoo Racing. The hybrid models, on the other hand, preserve the system with a 1.8 flex engine and an electric one, generating a combined 122 hp.
