Toyota has unveiled the all-new Lexus TZ, a three-row electric SUV that marks the brand’s expansion into the luxury electric SUV segment. Presented during the Japan Mobility Show, the model is designed to offer a mobility experience focused on the well-being of occupants, moving away from the purely utilitarian approach that usually dominates the category.

The prototype debuts the “Driving Lounge” design philosophy, which prioritizes space and thermal and acoustic comfort inside the cabin. By using a dedicated platform exclusively for electric vehicles, Lexus was able to optimize the wheelbase, resulting in a flat floor and a significantly wider interior for the three rows of seats. The proposal is to transform commuting time into a moment of relaxation for all passengers.

At 5.10 meters long, there is enough space for up to seven occupants. Performance data are still discrepant, but it is estimated that the top-of-the-line Lexus TZ will come with an engine on each axle, all-wheel drive and about 402 hp. Lexus indicated that the car’s options include a sound system that reproduces an artificial V10 engine sound. The batteries will vary between 77 kWh and 96 kWh, with a range of up to 480 km.

The interior finish uses materials with low environmental impact, with emphasis on “forged bamboo” — a Japanese technique that gives durability and sophistication to elements of the panel and doors. The extended panoramic roof amplifies the sense of space, while ambient lighting systems interact with the audio to create an immersive and serene atmosphere.

In the dynamic aspect, the Lexus TZ seeks to maintain the brand’s driving identity, characterized by quiet operation and linear acceleration. The SUV integrates the “Rear Comfort” feature, which adjusts the suspension and torque delivery to minimize oscillation in the rear, and the “Interactive Manual Drive” system, aimed at a greater subjective connection between the driver and the vehicle.
