To maintain the strong sales momentum, new features of the Geely EX2 include intelligent side camera, sentry mode and extended range
The Geely EX2 — marketed as Geely Xingyuan in China — will undergo a significant technical upgrade. The compact whose sales are skyrocketing in Brazil will be this week with new battery arrangements, greater on-board technological input and a declared range of up to 460 kilometers in the Chinese test cycle (CLTC).
It is an optimistic projection, attainable with the ‘light foot’, but which already makes the EX2 capable of covering the distance between Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and São Paulo (SP) without stops for refueling. The most profound mechanical change lies in the new 35 kWh and 47 kWh power packs, ensuring ranges of 360 km and 460 km, respectively.
The novelty debuts first in the Chinese market, but it is quite plausible that, with growing competition, the national model will soon bring the increments. Currently, the imported EX2 uses a 39.4 kWh battery, with 289 kilometers of autonomy approved by Inmetro — a number that, in practice, often exceeds 350 kilometers in urban use. With the adoption of the higher density component, the real range in the domestic market would easily touch the range of 400 kilometers.

The mid-cycle renewal follows Geely’s incisive strategy to consolidate its dominance in the global electric vehicle market, intensifying the direct clash with rival BYD. This movement is already generating clear reflections in Brazil: driven by strong consumer adherence, the EX2 totaled more than 3,600 units registered in April, establishing itself as the second best-selling electric car in the country.
Aesthetically, the external modifications will be discreet, coming down to new designs for the alloy wheels and the incorporation of a side camera on the front fenders. The improved hardware expands the driver assistance package, enabling the future activation of features such as autonomous parking and sentinel surveillance mode.
In the passenger compartment, the gear with the greatest impact is ergonomic. The gear selector was relocated from the center console to the steering column, a solution adopted by the industry to optimize useful space. The original niche now houses only the activation of the hazard lights.
Under the hood, the Chinese configuration will keep the 58 kW electric motor (about 79 hp of power), prioritizing energy efficiency over performance. The variant offered in Brazil, however, already boasts a much more robust powertrain, delivering 115 hp. The official schedule for the landing of the updates at Brazilian dealerships has not yet been confirmed by the manufacturer.
