Hyundai unveiled the eighth generation of the Elantra — sold in South Korea as Avante — during the Busan Motor Show, with a completely redesigned look and larger body. True to the brand’s tradition of making drastic changes with each renewal, the midsize sedan abandons the lines of the previous generation and adopts the new “Art of Steel” design language, marked by sharp angles and deep creases.
The model has not only changed its face, but has grown. The Elantra became 5.5 cm longer, reaching 4.76 m, of which 3 cm were for the wheelbase, now 2.75 m. The width rose 3 cm, to 1.85 m, and the height reaches 1.42 m. According to the manufacturer, the gain brings the interior space closer to that of a higher-category sedan, such as the Sonata.

To reinforce the athletic air, the Korean adopted more protruding fenders, door handles flush with the bodywork and a triangular window behind the rear doors, which shows the larger size. The front and rear form an “H” light signature, and a pronounced ducktail spoiler runs the entire width of the tailgate. The wheels, 18″ and five-spoke design, follow the angular layout.
Inside, the evolution is noticeable. The dashboard now houses the Pleos multimedia system, based on Android, with a 12.9″ screen as standard and a 14.6″ option. Unlike rivals that concentrate everything on the display, Hyundai kept physical commands below the screen. A small horizontal digital instrument panel is in the driver’s line of sight, and there is ambient lighting in the doors and on the dashboard.

The gear selector migrated to the steering column, which freed up the center console for two induction chargers. On the steering wheel, the logo gave way to four dots, which represent the letter “H” in Morse code.
Under the hood, the Korean range starts from a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 149 hp, 25 hp more than in the previous generation, and includes a 1.6-liter hybrid option with 157 hp. The electrified version debuts the “Stay Mode” feature, which keeps the air conditioning and multimedia center connected with the energy of the high-voltage battery, similar to what occurs in electric cars.

Sales of Avante begin in the third quarter in South Korea, while the global launch of Elantra is scheduled for 2027. The brand has also confirmed a sporty “N” version, with a larger engine, for later on.
