German brand created an 'electric monster' of more than 1,100 hp that reaches 300 km/h and uses digital trick to deceive purists
The sports division of Mercedes-Benz, historically renowned for the roar and brute force of its hand-assembled V8 engines, has taken its most radical step into the future. The new Mercedes-AMG GT debuts definitively abandoning internal combustion, although it is more powerful than ever. Based on the Vision AMG concept, the super sports car leaves gasoline aside to try to maintain its relevance on the track through superlative numbers, with arrival at dealerships scheduled for the end of 2026.

Propulsion is done by three axial-flow electric motors (two at the rear and one at the front). The 106 kWh battery uses ultra-thin cells and direct individual cooling, allowing a range of 700 km in the WLTP cycle. The set supports 600 kW recharges, capable of restoring 460 km of range in 10 minutes.
With a top speed limited to 300 km/h, the model debuts in two options: the Mercedes-Benz GT55 has 805 hp and 183.5 kgfm, and goes from 0 to 96 km/h in 2.4 seconds. The GT63 delivers an impressive 1.153 hp and 203,9 kgfm, reducing the time from 0 to 100 km/h to 2,0 seconds. As a concession to enthusiasts, the Sport+ driving mode activates a system that emulates the roar of the old V8 blocks in the line in the speakers.

Visually, the production version adapted the lines of the original concept by adopting a functional rear window and taillights interconnected by a darkened strip. The coupe has active aerodynamic elements, such as a speed-actuated rear spoiler and an extendable diffuser in the bumper — features that guarantee a drag coefficient of just 0.22.
In the cabin, the dashboard is dominated by screens that cover the entire width of the console, surrounded by leather, carbon fiber and metal. The panoramic roof switches between transparent and opaque at the touch of a button. Without the thermal engine under the hood, Mercedes molded a 59.5-liter front trunk, which features a QR Code with behind-the-scenes access to the model’s production.
