The Hyundai i20 has already debuted with a range of six different models and two engine options. The hatch was positioned between the HB20 and the Creta, competing within its segment and against the entry-level SUVs that are in fashion.
This makes it one of the few compact hatchbacks to bring a more stuffed equipment package, a formula repeated only by the Honda City and the Peugeot 208. Other brands are preferring to equip more entry-level SUVs and leave hatches as entry-level models.
Brazil was the stage for this global debut, the new i20 will be sold in other markets with this design. It also features a more refined platform, the K3, which equips the current generations of the Elantra, Kona and the Kia Niro, K4, EV3 and Seltos.
In other words, it is a platform that can receive medium models. In the case of the Hyundai i20, this translates into a more sophisticated, safer design prepared to be electrified in the future.
This base is also tipped to receive the next generation of the Chevrolet Onix and two new SUVs. The cars of each brand will have different looks, the sharing will only be a platform to speed up development and amortize costs.
Returning to the new Hyundai i20, it has the same engines as the HB20: the aspirated 1.0 with 80 hp and 10,2 kgfm and the 1.0 TGDI with 115 hp and 17,5 kgfm. In the first, the transmission is a five-speed manual and in the second, it is a six-speed automatic.
The Hyundai i20 measures 4.13 m long, 1.78 m wide, 1.50 m high and 2.58 m wheelbase. The trunk has a capacity of 346 liters in the VDA standard, the largest among hatches.
Now that the brand has released more details about the car, let’s show you what comes in each of the six versions. Check it out:
