The Volkswagen T-Cross arrived in the 2027 line and has as a great novelty the eight-speed automatic transmission. The information was raised by journalist João Anacleto, who received confirmation from the manufacturer about the change.
The eight-speed gearbox was adopted only in models with a 1.0 turbo engine, the Highline and Extreme versions with the 1.4 turbo continue with the six-speed gearbox. For now, the T-Cross is the only model to get this update, the Nivus is also in the 2027 line and continues with the old gearbox.

The performance data of the Volkswagen T-Cross 2027 present on the manufacturer’s website are the same as the previous line, with acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 10 seconds and a top speed of 192 km/h. Consumption has not been released yet and may have changed.
This eight-speed gearbox that the compact SUV received is the Aisin AWF8F35, called internally by Volkswagen the AQ300. It is the same box already used by the Taos, the Caoa Changan CS75 and Volvo cars.

Apart from this technical change, the T-Cross 2027 did not receive any other changes. The equipment package remains the same, the limited editions Seleção and Rock In Rio are no longer offered.
The Volkswagen T-Cross was the best-selling passenger car in Brazil in June and has been the best-selling SUV in the country since 2023. The last update was a face-lift in the 2025 line, which brought along a redesigned dashboard and improvements in the finish.
The gearbox change was already planned and should be gradually extended to the other models with the 200 TSI engines. The brand had already announced the nationalization of the 1.5 TSI Evo as a successor to the 1.4 TSI, which may explain the maintenance of the six-speed gearbox in the strongest models of the T-Cross.
