Volkswagen has started selling its first 100% electric car in Brazil. Presented this Saturday (5) during Rock in Rio, in Rio de Janeiro, the Volkswagen ID.4 Pro 2027 arrives at dealerships in October for R$ 299.990, in a single version — practically the same price as the Tiguan R-Line 2027, the medium combustion SUV of the same size.
The ID.4 is not exactly a newcomer: since 2023 it has been running here, but only through the Sign&Drive subscription program, restricted to 250 units, with monthly payments that started at R$ 9.990 and went back to R$ 4.990, plus a purchase option at the end of the contract for R$ 190 thousand. According to Volkswagen, the step served to collect usage and performance data before conventional sales.
The ID.4 returns to an electrified market that has transformed rapidly in the last three years and, in August, accounted for 24.3% of light vehicle registrations in the country, an all-time record.
Medium SUVs represent, however, a small portion of this new wave; it is a segment that VW intends to capture first, while being able to convert potential customers of BYD Song Plus Premium and GWM Haval H6 PHEV, who would prefer a 100% electric car.
What changes in relation to the ID.4 of the subscription

The version of the ID.4 that hits stores is updated in relation to the rentable copies, with a notable gain in power. The engine remains single and rear, but rises from 204 hp and 31,6 kgfm to 286 hp and 55,6 kgfm, while the battery goes from 77 kWh to 84 kWh gross, or 79 kWh net. The autonomy approved by Inmetro advances from 370 km to 389 km, and fast recharging in direct current jumps from 135 kW to 185 kW. On a 180 kW charger, the SUV goes from 10% to 80% charge in 25 minutes, according to the manufacturer. The time from 0 to 100 km/h drops to 6.7 seconds, and the top speed is 180 km/h.
The multimedia center has also grown: it is 12.9″, against 10″ of the previous model, with native navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB-C ports and induction charger. The 5.3″ digital panel is attached to the steering column, and the steering wheel has physical buttons again.
Technology, comfort and space

The standard list includes IQ matrix LED lighting. Light with adaptive high beams, ambient light with 30 color options, electric front seats with memory, heating and three massage programs, three-zone air conditioning, panoramic glass roof, 360° camera, face-to-face key with trunk opening by presence sensor and 19-inch wheels.
Among the driving assistants are Travel Assist, Emergency Assist — which takes control and stops the car if the driver loses consciousness — and Park Assist Plus, capable of memorizing repeated parking maneuvers, such as the one in the garage at home. It is 4.58 m long, 2.77 m wheelbase and 533 liters of trunk, with rear-wheel drive and independent rear suspension.
Rivals in the range of R$ 300 thousand
The most numerous competitors in this price range are not electric. In the first half of the year, the BYD Song Pro sold 17,776 units, the BYD Song Plus totaled 10,951 and the GWM Haval H6 PHEV19 registered 6,918 — all plug-in hybrids, which do not require the public charging network. In the top versions, the Song Plus Premium costs R$ 299,800 and the Haval H6 GT PHEV starts at around R$ 319,000.
Among the 100% electric SUVs of similar size, the dispute is smaller and cheaper: Geely EX5 (1,343 registrations in the semester), GAC Aion V (969) and Chevrolet Captiva EV (928) are between 201 hp and 218 hp, with batteries of about 60 kWh.
The ID.4 has an advantage in power and recharging speed, but not in autonomy: Inmetro’s 389 km are below the 413 km of the EX5 in the Pro version, sold from around R$ 195 thousand. The VW, however, is more luxurious.
Sales start in October across the country.
