Production line in Horizonte (CE), which produces Chinese electric vehicles for GM, has multiplied its production capacity by eight and will have Sino-British models
PACE, an acronym for Automotive Plant of Ceará, operated by Comexport, in Horizonte (CE), will assemble MG Motor models. The manufacturing unit, which had a capacity of 5,000 units, under the CDK and SKD regimes, expanded its capacity to 40 thousand units per year. The MG4 and MG S5 models are planned.

This Wednesday (17), Chevrolet made official the start of production of the Captiva EV in Brazil at the old Troller factory. Today, the compact Spark EUV is already assembled at this plant. With the expansion of the plant, the facilities will start assembling the models of the British MG Motor, which is controlled by the Chinese group SAIC – which produces the CDK and SKD kits of Chevrolet’s electric cars in China – sold there as Wulling.

The MG4 is an anabolic hatchback, equipped with engine options of 194 hp and 435 hp, in addition to 35,7 or 61,2 kgfm of torque. The model is also equipped with 64 kWh batteries, which deliver up to 364 km of autonomy, according to Inmetro.
The brand offers the model in three trim versions, with a rich package of content. It is equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument panel, multimedia center with a 15.6-inch screen, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, LED headlights and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which allows you to power external equipment using the vehicle’s battery. The electric hatch will also have a driving assistance package.

The MG S5 is a medium SUV that has arrived to fight in a competitive segment, which includes models such as Geely EX5, Leapmotor B10 and C10, as well as GAC Aion V.
The MG S5 EV is built on the MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) modular platform, the same used by the MG4, and will be offered in Brazil with a 170 hp rear electric motor and 25,5 kgfm of torque. The power is provided by a 49 kWh battery, which provides autonomy of up to 351 kilometers through the Inmetro cycle. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and can be recharged in direct current of up to 120 kW, allowing it to recover much of the charge in less than half an hour, under ideal conditions.
Among the equipment, the MG S5 EV has a 12.8-inch multimedia center, 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, induction cell phone charger, iSMART remote connectivity system, 360-degree view camera, front seats with electric adjustments, automatic digital air conditioning and face-to-face key.
The safety package includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and traffic sign recognition.
There is still no set date for the start of production of the MG models in Horizonte, but operations will begin in 2026 or, at the latest, in early 2027.
