GAC is qualified in the Mover Program and will have national production in 2027

The brand will produce in Catalão (GO) in the same unit that currently makes Mitsubishi cars and will also have an engineering center

GAC was officially qualified for the Green Mobility and Innovation Program (Mover) this Monday (20). This initiative of the Federal Government grants R$3.9 billion in financial credits to companies that meet innovation and value addition goals to Brazil, with a focus on research and development, decarbonization, energy efficiency, vehicle safety and nationalization of technologies.

The Mover Program covers manufacturers that have national production, GAC announced in March that it will make its vehicles in Catalão (GO) from 2027, with the support of HPE Automotores. The Chinese brand made an investment of R$ 1.3 billion in the plant that today makes only Mitsubishi cars.

In addition to using the manufacturing facilities, GAC will inaugurate an engineering, research and development center in Brazil to create technologies focused on our market. She adds that the plans include electric vehicles with autonomy extender (REEV) and flex engines for the electrified line.

GAC has not yet revealed which cars it intends to nationalize. Its most successful model today is the GS4 medium SUV, which sold 2,259 units in 2026. The new Aion UT made a good debut as well, with 659 registrations in June.

During the first half of 2026, GAC sold 4,948 cars in Brazil and ranked 19th in the manufacturer ranking. The brand also has a small dealership network, which is in the process of expansion.

GAC’s debut was in May 2025, with a lineup of five vehicles: the Aion ES electric sedan, the Aion Y electric hatchback, the Aion V electric midsize SUV, the GS4 hybrid midsize SUV, and the Hyptec HT luxury electric SUV. In 2026, the brand launched the GS3 compact combustion SUV and the Aion UT electric hatch.
