Artificial Intelligence already influences the decision to buy cars for 82% of Brazilian consumers. This is what a survey by Data OLX Autos points out, which also reveals that 62% consider technology relevant when searching for a vehicle. Price evaluation, virtual inspection, and personalized recommendations appear among the main applications of AI in the purchase journey.

The survey was carried out with 408 OLX users who intended to buy a car between April 1st and 30th, 2026. According to the study, the main expectation of consumers is to use Artificial Intelligence to assess whether the advertised price is in line with the market. The functionality was pointed out by 68% of respondents, who expect algorithms capable of indicating whether the asking amount is above or below the real history of negotiations and the valuation of the model.
Transparency also appears as one of the most valued factors. For 60% of the participants, AI can contribute through virtual inspection, using image analysis to identify wear, paint touch-ups and possible inconsistencies in the condition of the advertised vehicle.
Artificial intelligence to cross-reference data
Another feature considered important is the cross-checking of information about the car’s history. The possibility of consulting data on claims, revisions and participation in auctions was cited by 48% of respondents. On the other hand, 38% pointed out as a differential the automatic comparison between similar models, including maintenance costs and technical specifications.
When asked about the features they would like to use, 68% answered that they want to receive vehicle recommendations according to their profile and way of use. Another 53% showed interest in conducting research using natural language, while 49% would like to compare advantages and disadvantages between different models automatically.
The survey also shows that the acceptance of the technology is greater among those who already own a car. In this group, 88% say they see value in the use of Artificial Intelligence during the search for the next vehicle, indicating a trend for the technology to consolidate itself as a support tool in the choice, evaluation and negotiation of used and used cars in digital marketplaces.
If you wish, I can also give a more analytical bias, highlighting how AI tends to replace the traditional filters of classified portals and become a digital consultant for the consumer.
