BMW will take new version of the R 12 G/S to Capital Moto Week

A few days after presenting the BMW R 12 G/S GS Trophy Competition Bike, BMW announced a new option for the traditional BMW R 12 G/S in Brazil. The manufacturer revealed that the new big trail black color option will make its first public appearance during Capital Moto Week, in Brasilia.

The novelty expands the visual options of the model officially launched in March this year. While the GS Trophy version was developed to compete in the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2026 in Romania, the new black paint arrives to reinforce the appeal of the production version, highlighting the classic and adventurous style of the motorcycle.

Inspired by the historic BMW R 80 G/S, the R 12 G/S combines retro elements with modern technologies. According to the manufacturer, the new paint highlights the robust character of the bike and seeks to attract motorcyclists looking for a GS with a more sober look, without giving up the traditional identity of the line.

The mechanical base remains unchanged. The motorcycle is equipped with the traditional 1,170 cm³ twin-cylinder boxer engine, cooled by air and oil, which delivers 109 hp of power at 7,000 rpm and 11,7 kgfm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Aimed at both on-road and off-track use, the R 12 G/S has long-travel suspensions with manual adjustments, 21-inch spoked wheels at the front and 17-inch at the rear, in addition to the final drive by cardan shaft, BMW’s traditional solution.

In the technological package, the adventurer offers Pro gear shift assistant (quickshifter), ABS Pro and dynamic traction control (DTC), systems that increase the safety and control of the motorcycle in different riding conditions.

The debut of the new color takes place during Capital Moto Week, the largest motorcycling meeting in Latin America. The presentation reinforces BMW’s strategy to keep the R 12 G/S in evidence after the launch of the racing version.
