Volvo CE has started application tests of the EC230 Electric excavator in Brazil. The equipment is working at Caxiense Fagundes, a quarry located in Caxias do Sul (RS).
The Volvo CE EC230 Electric was launched in 2026 in the 26-tonne class. It is indicated for uses such as earth movement, waste handling and scrap metal.

According to José Fernando Fagundes, executive director of Fagundes Construction and Mining, there was a mistrust about the performance of the electric excavator. But the machine met the demand.
The electric motor reduces vibration and makes operation quiet, in addition to the advantage of immediate torque. The battery allows you to work all day without interruption, with recharging being done overnight or in the intervals between shifts.
Volvo CE already has the L120 Electric medium loader, the L25 Electric compact loader and the ECR25 Electric compact excavator as battery options.
Electric vehicles and machines are gaining ground in this type of operation by reducing emissions, fuel dependency, and maintenance costs.
