Toyota gave the Corolla Cross the face of the Land Cruiser; and Brazil was left out

Toyota has launched a special series of the Corolla Cross in Japan that celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Corolla and adopts a more adventurous look. Called the Corolla Cross Z “Adventure”, the version hit the Japanese market on July 1, alongside an equipment update for the entire SUV line in the country. For now, the edition is exclusive to Japan.
The detail that draws the most attention is in the grille. Toyota borrowed the front end of the combustion version sold in the United States and reworked it with black frames and a darkened emblem, creating a face that stands out from the rest of the Japanese range. The off-road appeal gains even more strength with an optional package, the Z Adventure Set, which features the name “TOYOTA” written in white letters along the grille — a solution identical to that used in the Land Cruiser, the brand’s traditional off-road utility.

According to Toyota’s official statement, the special series receives aluminum-looking crankcase protectors, stickers with the 60th anniversary logo on the front fenders and 17-inch alloy wheels (17×6.5J) in matte gray, shod with 215/60 R17 tires. The palette is lean and always combined with a black roof: the special colors are Urban Khaki, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Mud Bath and Black Mica. Inside, there are synthetic leather seats and Mineral-colored fabric, with contrasting stitching, as well as Smoke Silver silver finishes on the steering wheel, gear knob and dashboard.

The update also changes security items. According to Toyota, the top HEV Z and HEV GR Sport versions now have a heated steering wheel as standard and an expanded assistance package (ADAS), with blind spot monitor, safe exit alert, panoramic view camera with “transparent floor” function and autonomous braking in maneuvers, capable of identifying vehicles, pedestrians and cross traffic when reversing.
The mechanics do not change. In Japan, the Corolla Cross is only offered in the conventional hybrid configuration. The front version combines a 1.8 hp 98 engine with a 95 hp electric motor. The all-wheel drive versions, using the E-Four system, add a second electric motor on the rear axle, with 41 hp.

Prices start at around R$ 115 thousand (¥ 3,613,500) at the entrance, with front-wheel drive, and reach approximately R$ 130 thousand (¥ 4,077,700) in the top-of-the-line GR Sport. The Z “Adventure” anniversary series, with the E-Four system, costs around R$ 125 thousand (¥ 3,921,500), and the optional Z Adventure Set package adds about R$ 9,5 thousand (¥ 297,000), taking the set to something close to R$ 135 thousand (¥ 4,218,500). The values are valid for the Japanese market.
