A chronic heat defect in the Urus's headlights causes the white light to turn yellow, requiring replacements that exceed R$ 30 thousand per unit
Owners of the Lamborghini Urus — one of the most coveted SUVs in the luxury market — face an aesthetic dilemma that exposes the weaknesses of its highly complex components. This is because a design defect in the LED headlights of the car’s units has caused the early yellowing of the daytime running light (DRL), transforming the white and sharp visual signature into a grimy and asymmetrical tone.
The problem gained repercussion after a report on the Reddit forum, where an owner evidenced that the technical problem lies in the excessive proximity between the LED modules and the light guide tube inside the headlight housing. With use, the excessive heat generated by the diodes burns the end of the acrylic component, changing the color temperature of the light.

The seriousness of the case became public after the owner replaced only the passenger-side headlight, damaged in a collision. The new component has recovered its original shine, evidencing the yellowish wear of the driver’s headlight, which has remained original. The result is a glaring asymmetry that, according to the owner of the SUV, compromises the resale value and visual identity of the vehicle, equipped with a 650 hp V8 engine.

The solution, however, comes up against astronomical figures: each optical set costs between US$ 5,000 and US$ 7,000. In values converted to the Brazilian market, the unit cost exceeds R$ 35 thousand. The financial impasse is aggravated by the attitude of insurance companies, which routinely refuse to pay for the replacement of the intact component, claiming that yellowing is a natural wear and tear or manufacturing defect, and not a direct consequence of an accident.
Although experts recommend replacing the pair to ensure aesthetic harmony, the episode raises discussions about the obsolescence of technologies in supercars and the responsibility of brands in the face of chronic failures that arise soon after the official warranty expires.
