Omoda & Jaecoo has made it official that it will adopt the direct sales system in Brazil – a channel that dispenses with the dealership and serves mainly people with disabilities (PCD), fleet owners and rental companies. The announcement was made on Wednesday (5), during an event of Chery International Brazil, in São Paulo.
The company did not say when the channel will start operating or which models and audiences will be covered. At the beginning of the year, however, executives had already signaled their intention to sell at a discount to PCD and small fleet owners – a segment that accounts for a relevant portion of the volume of the most popular cars.
The decision comes at the brand’s best commercial moment in the country. In July, Omoda & Jaecoo sold 5,757 vehicles, the sixth consecutive monthly record and the first time it has surpassed 5,000 units in a single month. As a result, it went from 20 thousand cars sold in 2026 to 2.2% of the total market, up 0.3 percentage points over June. In the B, C and D SUV segments, the share is 5.4%; among electrified vehicles, 9.5%.
The Jaecoo 7 led the way with 3,061 units and was among the two best-selling plug-in hybrids of the month. The Omoda 5 registered 2,551 registrations, a growth of 32% over June and the second position among full hybrids. The rest of the volume comes from the electric Omoda E5 and the Omoda 7. For Leonardo Aredias, the brand’s director of sales and after-sales in Brazil, the result shows that the strategy “is no longer sustained by isolated sales peaks.”
Cheaper models on the way
To gain volume, the brand bets on more affordable products. The next launch should be the Jaecoo 5 Hybrid, positioned below the Omoda 5 and with an estimated price between R$ 150 thousand and R$ 160 thousand. Full hybrid, the SUV would face Volkswagen T-Cross, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Renegade. Then comes the Omoda 4, scheduled for the end of 2026, and the Omoda 2, expected in 2028 as an entry-level car. The Chery Group has already announced the plan to bring six models between R$ 80 thousand and R$ 120 thousand, distributed among Omoda, Jaecoo and the startup brands Lepas and iCaur.
Factory and ethanol hybrid
The larger range depends on local production. Omoda & Jaecoo has confirmed that it intends to manufacture part of its cars in Brazil and is considering buying the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Itatiaia (RJ), a deal that has not yet been officially confirmed – nor the models that would leave the unit. The chain, which reached 100 dealerships in July, should end the year with 150.
The other front is fuel. From 2027, the company intends to offer hybrids capable of running on gasoline and ethanol, in sets derived from the 1.5 turbo engine used today in the brand’s full and plug-in hybrids. For 2028, the Chery Group is developing a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo already flex, aimed at markets such as Brazil, which could equip the Omoda 2 — application and eventual electrification not yet confirmed.
