Sold at the Beijing Motor Show, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme delivers almost 3,000 hp and marks the Chinese manufacturer's offensive in the ultra-high luxury segment
BYD reached a new level in the global automotive market during the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The Chinese manufacturer sold a unit of the Yangwang U9 Xtreme for 20 million yuan, equivalent to R$ 14.5 million. The transaction not only marked the highest amount paid for a vehicle in this edition of the event, but also set the historical price record for a production model of the brand.
According to Li Yunfei, the group’s director of branding and public relations, the hypercar topped the individual turnover ranking among all exhibitors. The delivery of the unit, limited to only 30 copies, had the direct participation of the president of BYD, Wang Chuanfu, signaling the importance of the project to consolidate the company’s image in the super sports car niche.

The U9 Xtreme’s high value is underpinned by internationally outstanding technical credentials. Recently, the model set a time of 6:59.157 at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany, positioning itself as one of the fastest electric cars in the world. The vehicle also holds track records on renowned Chinese circuits such as Shanghai, Zhuhai and Chengdu Tianfu.
The mechanical assembly delivers almost 3,000 hp and uses a 1,200V electrical architecture, allowing ultra-fast recharges and greater thermal efficiency. The chassis is equipped with the DiSus-X active suspension, developed by BYD itself, as well as brakes with carbon-ceramic discs designed for extreme use in competitions.
Alongside the record sales, the Yangwang division introduced the U8L, a four-seater variant of its luxury SUV. The model seeks to compete directly with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600, reinforcing BYD’s strategy of dominating very high value-added segments, where technology and craftsmanship surpass the logic of traditional sales volume.
