Proposal provides for emergency button, stricter passenger identification and access to more information before the ride
The Public Safety Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that establishes new protection measures for drivers of transport apps. The proposal provides for emergency tools on the platforms, reinforcement of passenger identification and more information about the trip before the acceptance of the ride.

The approved text is a substitute presented by Deputy Sargento Portugal (Podemos/RJ) to Bill 6.370/2025, authored by Deputy Amom Mandel (Republicanos/AM). If the proposal is transformed into law, platforms will be required to offer features such as a button to call the police, immediate assistance in emergency situations and real-time location sharing during trips.
Another point of the bill expands drivers’ access to ride information before acceptance. The platforms must inform the complete boarding and disembarking address, the passenger’s name and the history of trips already made by the user. Companies will also need to adopt stricter identity verification mechanisms to reduce fraud and account misuse.
The proposal also guarantees drivers the right to refuse or cancel rides without punishment when there is a proven risk to their safety or property. In addition, the text provides for educational campaigns, specific service channels and training of public agents to deal with occurrences involving the sector.
Companies that do not comply with the rules may receive warnings or fines between R$1 thousand and R$10 thousand per infraction. Despite the approval in the Public Safety Committee, the proposal will still be analyzed by the Finance and Taxation and Constitution and Justice (CCJ) committees. To become law, it will also need to be approved by the House and Senate.
