Delayed the service and lost the car warranty? ? Stellantis now gives you a second chance, but with rules and cost

The Stellantis brands in Brazil — Fiat, Abarth, Jeep, Ram, Peugeot and Citroën — started to offer a service that allows you to recover the factory warranty of vehicles whose owner missed the scheduled service deadline. Called warranty revalidation, the initiative serves those who have exceeded the mileage or maintenance period and, under normal conditions, would be without coverage: now, it is possible to reestablish it through technical evaluation.

To maintain the warranty normally, the owner needs to comply with the service plan of each model, with a maximum tolerance of 1,000 km, more or less, or one month, whichever comes first. In a car scheduled to be serviced every 10,000 km or a year, for example, the service can be done between 9,000 km and 11,000 km, or between 11 and 13 months. After this limit, the warranty is lost, even if the review is done later.

That’s where revalidation comes in. The benefit is valid only for the first, second or third overdue service and can be used only once per chassis. The request must be made within 180 days after the expiration of the service and/or up to 5,000 km above the expected limit. In practice, a vehicle serviced every 10,000 km or a year and the first overdue service can revalidate it up to 15,000 km or 180 days after the original date.

The process begins at the brand’s dealership, which informs the conditions and costs. Before reactivating the coverage, the car undergoes a technical inspection of about an hour, with a checklist that evaluates its integrity according to Stellantis’ safety and quality criteria. If everything is in compliance, the workshop carries out the pending overhaul and then revalidates the warranty.

According to the manufacturer, the requirement of the checklist keeps the vehicle within the projected durability and performance standards, and the repair in the authorized network ensures genuine parts and specialized labor. It is worth warning the consumer: the service is neither automatic nor free. In addition to the inspection, the customer pays for the delayed review, and the recovery of the warranty depends on the vehicle’s approval in the evaluation.

Those who prefer can close a combo that brings together the overdue revision, done immediately, the revalidation and the next scheduled revision, with special conditions that vary according to the brand. The prices of the revisions are public, calculated based on the city of São Paulo, and change according to the concessionaire and location; They can be consulted on the websites of each brand, in the scheduled review area.
