Chevrolet, in partnership with GM’s performance division, decided to invest more in off-road vehicles and launched the S10 Trail Boss. Despite being made in Brazil, the most ‘raw’ version of the medium pickup began to be sold first in Argentina, but should arrive very soon for our market.

The great differential of the Trail Boss is the preparation to face more severe trails, already with high suspension, special tires and an exclusive visual package. The model is already factory homologated with an homologated off-road package.

The new version of the S10 has suspension signed by Ironman, exclusive to this configuration. Parts such as spring and shock absorber were recalibrated together with the geometry of the pickup, raising the front end by about 30 mm, which made the pickup reach a clear span of 32.4 cm, an angle of attack of 32.5° and a departure angle of 22.9°. These numbers boost confidence when passing through ditches, steps, cow ribs, and steep ramps.

The 18″ Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain tires are also highlighted due to the tread designed to offer traction on dirt, gravel and mud without compromising behavior on asphalt. There was also the recalibration of electronic modules, sensors and the front camera for the operation of driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The model has features such as collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistant and electronic stability control, which were again validated with the new suspension adjustment.

In the mechanical set, the S10 Trail Boss features the Duramax 2.8 turbodiesel engine with 207 hp and 52 kgfm of torque, associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 traction with reduced. Its calibration prioritizes progressive responses and the use of torque at low revs. According to Inmetro, the S10 Trail Boss registers consumption of 8.3 km/l in the city and 10.5 km/l on the highway and is right with Brazilian biodiesel.

Darkened look and complete equipment list

In addition to the suspension news, the Trail Boss has some details in the external look to differentiate it from other versions of the S10. They are:

  • Front grille with Black Bowtie in gloss black;
  • Black rear bumper;
  • More pronounced fender frames;
  • Darkened wheels of specific design;
  • Tubular stirrup that speaks to the style of the extended saint;
  • Exclusive Ironman stickers and badges.

The bucket with Multiflex protector and the extended sanctuary are standard items and are the basis for a range of original accessories, such as organizer trays, dividers, specific supports and additional sockets.

Inside, the cabin maintains the darker atmosphere and also has specific details. The seats feature central fabric in velvety material and headrests with Trail Boss embroidery, while the cockpit panel combines the 8-inch digital instrument panel with the 11-inch MyLink multimedia center.

The off-road version offers Chevrolet’s complete connectivity package with native Wi-Fi, protection and convenience services and remote update of electronic systems, while the brand’s app allows you to activate vehicle functions remotely, such as door locking and remote start. The model also has USB type A and C ports, wireless charger and smartphone integration, including Android Auto compatible with Google’s AI assistant.

With the arrival of the new version, the S10 portfolio now has five main configurations: WT, Z71, LTZ, Trail Boss and High Country. With no official Brazilian price, AutoPapo estimates the price of the new Chevrolet S10 Trail Boss at around R$ 320 thousand here.
