Named KP31, the model uses an Alcantara finish and a plug-in hybrid diesel engine to attract an audience of premium SUVs
Chery presented the first images of the interior of KP31, its new global medium pickup developed to compete in the market currently led by Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. The Chinese manufacturer opted for a strategy of differentiation through luxury, providing the utility vehicle with a cabin with a higher standard of finish than what is commonly found in the cargo vehicle segment.
Unlike the dominance of rigid plastics in traditional models, the cabin of the KP31 has a two-tone coating in beige and black, with the use of materials such as Alcantara at the top of the dashboard. The project prioritizes digitalization, concentrating the vehicle’s functions on two large integrated screens for the instrument panel and multimedia center.

On the center console, the model has induction chargers for two smartphones, metal rotary selectors and “toggle” controls. Convenience items, such as seats with ventilation and heating, reinforce the brand’s proposal to attract consumers who use the pickup as a passenger and leisure vehicle, without giving up on-board technology.

On the mechanical side, the KP31 uses a rare configuration in the global market: a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) associated with a 2.5 turbodiesel engine. The combination aims to offer high torque and extended autonomy, with the possibility of recharging in the electrical network. Despite the internal refinement, the pickup maintains the stringer chassis and the capacities required by the category, with a payload of 1,000 kg and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg.

The official launch should take place in the coming months, positioning Chery at a new level of international competitiveness. The model will be a key piece in the brand’s expansion in markets such as Oceania, Latin America and Southeast Asia, where the midsize pickup segment registers significant sales volumes.
