Fang Cheng Bao, BYD’s high-performance sub-brand, has launched the Formula S series in China, which debuts in two body formats: the Formula S coupe sedan itself and the Formula S GT sports station wagon.
Prices start from the equivalent of R$ 145.274 (189.900 yuan) and go up to R$ 183.524 (239.900 yuan), with a declared range of up to 900 km in the Chinese CLTC cycle. The declared targets are the Xiaomi SU7 and the Tesla Model 3.

Created in 2023 as BYD’s sub-brand focused on adventure and off-road vehicles, Fang Cheng Bao uses the new family to enter the segment of electric sports sedans, currently the most disputed in the Chinese market. The Formula S costs from 189,900 to 229,900 yuan (R$ 145,274 to R$ 175,874), while the GT version goes from 219,900 to 239,900 yuan (R$ 168,224 to R$ 183,524).

The sedan is 5.06 m long, 1.97 m wide and 1.48 m high. The station wagon is slightly shorter and lower, at 5.03 m and 1.46 m, and both share a wheelbase of 2.96 m. The design is inspired by Formula X, Fang Cheng Bao’s own electric supercar, and yields an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.22 in the sedan and 0.25 in the station wagon.
Magnetorrheological suspension and recharging in minutes
The technical novelty is the DiSus-M intelligent suspension, of magnetorrheological fluid, which makes adjustments in the millisecond to balance comfort and stability. According to the manufacturer, the electric architecture supports ultra-fast recharging capable of taking the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.

The rear-wheel drive versions deliver 333 hp or 408 hp, while the all-wheel drive ones add up to 666 hp. The autonomy varies according to the configuration and reaches 900 km only in the rear versions of the sedan. The number, however, comes from the CLTC, an admittedly optimistic Chinese protocol, which usually far exceeds the values measured by Inmetro in Brazil.
Modular panel and assisted
driving Inside, the package brings together a 26″ head-up display with augmented reality (AR-HUD), sound signed by Devialet and zero-gravity seats. The cabin also features modular interfaces with magnetic fittings and threads, which allow you to attach accessories such as ambient lights, physical shortcut buttons and even karaoke equipment.
Assisted driving is in charge of God’s Eye B, the intermediate package of BYD’s system, supported by LiDAR sensors and with autonomous navigation functions on highways and urban roads. For now, the Formula S series is exclusive to the Chinese market, and BYD has not announced plans to take it to other countries.
