BMW presented, this week, the new M3 CS Handschalter 2027, a special limited production edition that marks the farewell of the current generation of the sports sedan. Aimed at the most purist enthusiasts, the new configuration breaks with the current market trend by adopting exclusively rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission, giving up the all-wheel drive system present in recent versions of the acronym CS.

Under the hood, the vehicle houses the 3.0-liter biturbo six-cylinder in-line engine, calibrated to deliver 473 hp and 56,1 kgfm — the same force numbers found in the conventional manual M3. Although the rated power is lower than the 543 hp of the original automatic M3 CS, the automaker guarantees high-level performance: the sports car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 290 km/h.

To compensate for the lower power and improve dynamics on the track, engineering focused on mass relief. The package includes forged alloy wheels, titanium muffled exhaust system, carbon fiber seats and carbon-ceramic brakes. The changes make the Handschalter — German for “manual transmission” — approximately 34 kg lighter than the standard M3. The suspension has been recalibrated with unique springs, stiffer anti-roll bars and shocks inherited from the M4 CSL coupe.

Visually, the sports car is distinguished by the frameless front grille, daytime running lights in yellow tone and extensive use of exposed carbon fiber. The palette includes Isle of Man Green and Sapphire Black at no cost, while exclusive options such as Imola Red and Techno Violet require an extra fee of US$ 4,500.

The cabin preserves the curved digital panel characteristic of the line, accompanied by two-zone air conditioning, heated seats and Harman Kardon audio system. Extra technologies, such as the head-up display and the electric trunk drive, are part of the optional Daily Driver package.

The assembly of the model will begin in July, with commercialization initially restricted to the United States and Canada. BMW confirmed that the print run will be strictly limited, with a table starting at US$ 108,475, a value that corresponds to about R$ 543 thousand in direct conversion, without import taxes.
