Compact hatch measures 4.20 m in length and could be a strong competitor if sold in Brazil by Stellantis
Leapmotor is preparing an electric hatchback called the A05 to compete directly against the BYD Dolphin and the Geely Ex2. The editor of AutoPapo, Felipe Boutros, caught a camouflaged unit in China.
The Leapmotor A05 has yet to be launched in China or any other market. Its images and some data have already been leaked by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the MIIT.

The hatch measures 4.20 m long, 1.80 m wide, 1.56 m high and 2.60 m wheelbase. The design of the side resembles that of the B10, but the front headlights are separated and the taillights are square.
The electric motor, made by Leapmotor itself, is a synchronous permanent magnet. 95 hp and 122 hp versions will be offered. The patent mentions Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) batteries, but not their capacity.
A differential of the Leapmotor A05 is that it will be launched with LiDAR to command semi-autonomous driving systems, at least in China.

Some data such as wheelbase measurements, length, width and engine power are similar to those of the A10 compact SUV. This model can come with batteries of up to 53 kWh, which in the Chinese cycle provide 505 km of autonomy.
In the Inmetro cycle, this would drop to about 350 km. With this we can predict that the A05 will have range in this range, perhaps a little more because the aerodynamics of a hatch are better.
The compact hatchback segment is the hottest among the electric ones sold in Brazil. BYD leads with the Dolphin Mini, while the Geely EX2 is in second position limited by the volume it can import.
The A05 can be a good option for Leapmotor to stand out in Brazil. The brand has already confirmed that it will produce models locally and has the backing of Stellantis.
