Fernando Calmon weaves his impressions aboard the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line 2026, which marks the return of the SUV to the Brazilian market
In its third generation, always coming from Mexico without import tax, the Tiguan now focuses only on the five-seater version. Radiator grille includes illuminated trim that highlights the VW logo (in white), while the 19-inch alloy wheels mix aluminum and black paint. At the rear, the “VW” lights up red when the lighting is activated.

Inside, the 15-inch multimedia screen stands out. modern-looking, great resolution and wireless mirroring for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is a rotary knob for the audio volume on the center console and the gear selection has moved to a lever on the steering column with a curious reversal between the “D” and “R” positions. Firm front seats offer good lateral support. In the rear seat there is good legroom, but the high central tunnel due to the 4×4 traction, bothers the passenger who sits in the middle.
Trunk decreased in volume because it housed a temporary spare tire. Performance is one of the highlights of the new Tiguan. Now with 86 hp and 5 kgf·m more, it always has immediate throttle responses, as well as tranquility when overtaking on single-lane highways. In Sport mode, there are downshifts without hesitation. Although it lacks 360° view cameras, the instrument panel reproduces the navigation map and allows you to look less away from the multimedia screen.
