The MG4 Urban is the big bet of the MG brand (of English origin, but controlled by the Chinese Saic) to become popular in Brazil. The electric compact car already debuts with production in SKD (semi-knocked down, or semi-disassembled) in Ceará confirmed and has good attributes, such as a range of up to 358 km.
The hatch arrives in two trim versions (Comfort and Luxury), with prices between R$ 129.990 and R$ 149.990. The most luxurious configuration offers two battery options: one with 43 kWh and one with 54 kWh capacity. See the prices:
- MG4 Urban Comfort 43 kWh: R$ 129.990
- MG4 Urban Luxury 43 kWh: R$ 139.990
- MG4 Urban Luxury 54 kWh: R$ 149.990
The MG4 Urban is the new generation of the compact, but the old MG4 will continue in line, positioned at a higher level. The novelty changes the rear-wheel drive for the front-wheel drive and also adopts the torsion axle rear suspension.
It also got bigger: the MG4 Urban measures 4.39 m long, 1.84 m wide, 1.55 m high and 2.75 m wheelbase. The trunk has a volume of 477 liters, but the brand considers the measure up to the ceiling of the compartment.

MG4 Urban’s range: better than competitors
Like the Geely EX2, the MG4 Urban brings an efficient powertrain that makes better use of battery charge. When equipped with the 43 kWh battery, it can run up to 299 km in the Inmetro cycle. The 54 kWh battery allows a range of up to 358 km in the Inmetro cycle.
With the smaller battery, it already surpasses the market leaders: BYD Dolphin Mini, BYD Dolphin SE and Geely EX2. It also does better than the GAC Aion UT Premium. The MG4 Urban with the 54 kWh battery has the longest autonomy among electric hatches sold in Brazil.
A differential of the model is that it can receive up to 87 kW of power in fast charging, tying with the new GAC Aion UT and surpassing other rivals. This means that a recharge from 10% to 80% takes only 30 minutes.
Power and torque
The MG4 Urban uses a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor, but with power calibrations that vary depending on the battery chosen:
- 43 kWh versions (Comfort and Luxury): 150 hp (110 kW) of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 9.6 seconds.
- 54 kWh version (Luxury): 160 hp (118 kW) of power, maintaining the same 25.5 kgfm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h drops slightly to 9.5 seconds.
- Maximum speed: Both engines reach 160 km/h.
Dimensions

The new generation of the hatch adopts front-wheel drive (FWD) and torsion axle rear suspension (with McPherson at the front). The brakes are disc brakes on all four wheels.
- Length: 4,395 mm (4.39 m)
- Width: 1,842 mm (1.84 m)
- Height: 1,549 mm (1.54 m)
- Wheelbase: 2,744 mm (2.74 m)
- Ground clearance: 117 mm
- Trunk: 568 liters (43 kWh version) or 577 liters (54 kWh version), values that already include an extra 98 liters compartment under the floor.
