Luxury division of China's largest state-owned manufacturer bets on electric cars with a lot of technology to fight with Zeekr and Avatr
MG Motor announced that it will bring to Brazil IM Motors, its luxury division focused on electric cars. Both brands are part of SAIC, China’s largest state-owned automaker.
IM Motors was launched in December 2020 and the first model to be launched was the L7, in 2022. Today the line consists of two sedans and four SUVs, all purely electric or electric with range extender.

SAIC is introducing IM Motors in markets such as Mexico, South America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. In some countries, her cars are sold in the MG Motor network.
IM Motors’ flagship is the L7, which was born as a competitor to the Tesla Model S. It had the collaboration of Williams Advanced Engineering in the design of the chassis.
The L7 is sold in versions ranging from 340 hp to 605 hp. The most powerful version is called Snake Performance and broke the lap record at the Zhejiang Autodrome.
The most recent launch was the LS8 large SUV, which measures 5 m long and 2 m wide. This model is one of two with a combustion engine that acts only as a generator for the batteries, the other is an even larger SUV called LS9.
In Brazil, IM Motors will have as its main competitors Avatr, which comes from Caoa, Zeekr and Denza, from BYD. These brands position themselves in the luxury market with a focus on electric models.
