The Chery group confirmed the arrival of another brand in Brazil, Lepas. It is a premium division positioned above Omoda & Jaecoo, also with a focus on exports.

Lepas will be represented in Brazil by the parent company, with no relations with Caoa Chery and coming together with Omoda & Jaecoo and Jetour. With this, it will be able to have its cars produced locally in the future if the purchase of the Land Rover plant in Itatiaia (RJ) is completed.

To differentiate itself from the other Chery luxury divisions arriving here, Lepas positions itself as a brand for those looking for elegance and perceived high quality. Its logo uses a cursive font that resembles the one used by Porsche in the emblems and the designs are cleaner than those of Omoda.

Lepas currently has three cars in its range: the L4 compact SUV, the L6 midsize SUV and the L8 7-seater large SUV. All are hybrids, during the Beijing Motor Show the electric versions of the L4 and L6 will be presented.

The Chery group has not yet disclosed what Lepas’ strategy will be like in Brazil, whether it will focus on electric vehicles or whether it will be comprehensive by including hybrids in the range. As the mechanics are shared with all the company’s brands that are here, part of the homologations are already done.

With this confirmation, we already have five brands of the group in Brazil, with the four that arrive through the headquarters being positioned in the luxury market. In the generalist scope we only have Caoa Chery, which continues with national production and flex cars.

Soon we will also have other Chinese brands, such as Dongfeng. During the Beijing Motor Show, there may be some more announcements of this type.
