Updated model arrives in Brazil by the end of 2027 to fight in the categories of large luxury SUVs
GWM has updated the gigantic Tank 700, the top-of-the-line SUV of its off-road division. Immense, it is a kind of Chinese Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with its boxy style.
The model is one of those tipped to land in Brazil. The brand is a mystery, and claims that every car has potential, but it is necessary to study the feasibility. After all, it is not enough just to import, it is necessary to homologate having stock of parts for the entire vehicle, training the network, investments in marketing and a series of other expenses.
But an executive revealed that the car arrives in Brazil in a maximum of 18 months. That is, by the end of 2027, the big guy can show up here.

Sold as a combustion option and two hybrid options, it is always equipped with a 3.0 twin-turbo V6 with 353 hp and 57 kgfm of torque. The electrified options raise the power to 523 hp and 979 hp, in addition to a torque of almost 140 kgfm. These are numbers that far surpass the German jeep that delivers 585 hp and 86 kgfm of torque.
Hybrid versions can be equipped with 37 kWh or 59 kWh batteries, which allow you to run up to 100 km on electricity alone. All power is distributed by a nine-speed automatic transmission and a 4×4 traction system.

We had the opportunity to quickly drive the Tank 700. It is certainly one of the most powerful cars we have ever driven at AutoPapo. But despite all the vigor available, its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 7.6 seconds.

The reason lies in the weight of no less than 3,180 kg, thanks to the V6 engine, two electric units, transmission, transfer case, cardan axle differentials and the battery pack. Not to mention that it is an SUV that uses a chassis structure under bodywork.
Comfort is impressive, as well as in a G-Class, the car overflows with technology, with driving assistants, which in China uses a LIDAR system, among other refinements. The suspension is air, with load adjustment.
In China, the Tank 700 has a starting price in the range of 520 thousand yuan (something around R$ 415 thousand). Here, if it were launched today, it would be much more expensive, in the range of R$ 600 thousand to R$ 800 thousand, depending on the version. But certainly, much cheaper than the R$ 2 million charged by the big German.
